A Poem to You
by Mike Beavers
All these years and what was I thinking?
I should have written a poem to you.
Those feelings I was hiding
And plans we were making
I should have written a poem
Long I have desired that you'd see inside my heart
I should have written a poem to you
So isolated and lonely
The years we spent together, apart
I should have written a poem
Trying to find a way to become your friend,
I should have written a poem to you
All this time, deep down inside
Our hearts they needed to mend
I should have written a poem
Searching for someone to know the real me.
I should have written a poem to you
I desired our souls to open
And our lives to be set tree
I should have written a poem
Blessed, this time, a second chance
It's true
now
And once more I have a chance
to write a poem to you.
